Valentine’s Day Treats

 

For Valentine’s Day I made some heart shaped Meringue Cookies.  These are my favorite because they are so light and delicate!

The recipe is really simple and low in fat and calories.

It is basically just 4 egg whites and 2 cups of powdered sugar whipped until foamy.  For chocolate flavor I added a tablespoon coco powder.  I put the mixture in in a large Ziploc bag and piped it on a cookie sheet lined with parchment.  The trick for airy meringues is in the baking, however.  I baked them at 325 degrees for three hours (or until dry) with a wooden spoon keeping the oven door ajar slightly.
