Before and After: T-Shirt to Skirt

I just spent the weekend at the Edgar Steam Engine Show and Flea market.  There were about a thousand venders and I got some really cool stuff!  I can’t wait to start some projects ;)  My mom did a post about it in her blog Dicky Bird's Nest.

The project I'm going to share with you today is something is an upcycing project is did by turning a shirt into a skirt.

What you need: A t-shirt a size or two too big and a sewing machine.

First I cut off collar of the shirt.  I liked the buttons so I kept them on and cut around them.  Also cut off the sleeves.

Then I cut the skirt into a A-line shape and sewed the sides.

Next I sewed the collar around the skirt to finish the top edge.

Finally I used the sleeves to make pockets and sewed them on the sides.

I think it turned out ok. :)

How to Get More Followers

I get so excited every time I see I have a new follower! Thank you so much for reading and following my blog!

However sometimes when I click on your name I can’t see what blog you have.  I try to follow everyone who has their blog listed. Most bloggers with fewer than 100 followers would too I imagine.

Here is a tutorial on how to change your settings to show your blog on your Google friend connect icon.

1.  Click on “My Account” on your Blogger account

2. Then click on the “Edit profile” button under your name.image

3. Click on the “Links” button (I already added mine)image

4. Click “Add custom link” image

5.  Put in your information

p.s. I’m starting a new blog for my photography! :)

If that doesn’t work for you you can always put in in the “About Me” section in your Blogger settings.  I hope this helps! Happy Blogging!

Flower Headband

Sorry for the long delay in posts.  I've been battling a long cough/cold.  :(

Here is another project I entered in the fair.  I got a first place, and it was really simple to make.  :)

First I cut out three clover-ish shaped flowers and sewed them with a loose stich and gathered them.

Then I cut out a rectangle of the knit fabric big enough to wrap my head and sewed the ends together to make a large circle.

Next I pinched one end and pinned it, then I sewed across the wrinkles.

Finally I cut out a little rectangle to cover the mess (optional) and I sewed on the flowers by hand one on top of another.  I also added a button for the center.

Here’s how it turned out.  :)

Zipper Flower

I’ve seen these zipper flowers done before and I wanted to give it a try.

I got a bag of zippers at Goodwill for cheap and with a needle and thread, pin back, and a piece of fabric it was very inexpensive.

  • First I cut the zipper so it was two long strips unattached.
  • Then I started rolling and sewing it on to itself like in the first picture. … I left the cute circle end for the “leaf.”
  • Then I glued a piece of fabric to the back to cover up the yucky sewing, like in picture two.  (It dries clear)
  • Finally I glued on the pin.

Ta Da!

The fair is this week!
My sister and I are singing Wednesday night at around 6!
I hope to take lots of pictures to document my last year :)
I am also presenting my final speech of my summer speech class.  I took it online.. So I have to gather my own live audience.  I know, I’m a wimp. :P
Also… last week I took some of my sister’s Senior Pictures.
Here is a little sample. :)

What are you doing this week?  <3
