Hot Summer Days!

A heat wave has hit Wisconsin this week!

Temperatures have been in the mid nighties to a hundred!

To beat the heat I made some refreshing lemon ice popsicles. :)

You can buy a popsicle maker pretty much anywhere nowadays, and it super easy to make!

I just used some fresh lemon juice, water, and sugar to make the lemonade and I put a slice in for decoration. :)

How to you beat the heat?

Duet… :)

Me and my sister, Anna (on the left), sang “Change” by Carrie Underwood at Farm Technology Days last week. We will be singing it as apart of our 4-H project at WI County Fair.  Here’s how it turned out. :)

Sorry its in two parts.. :p

Part 1
Part 2

Whatcha gonna do with the 36 cents
Sticky with coke on your floorboard
When a woman on the street is huddled in the cold
On a sidewalk bench trying to keep warm
Do you call her over, hand her the change
Ask her her story, ask her her name
Or do you tell yourself…
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Whatcha gonna do when you're watching TV
And an ad comes on, yeah, you know the kind
Flashing up pictures of a child in need
For a dime a day, you could save a life
Do you call the number, reach out a hand
Or do you change the channel, call it a scam
Do you tell yourself…
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Oh, the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive, don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
The world's so big, it can break your heart
And you just want to help, not sure where to start
So you close your eyes
And send up a prayer into the dark
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"
Oh, the smallest thing can make all the difference
Love is alive, don't listen to them when they say
"You're just a fool, just a fool to believe you can change the world"

Thanks for watching! :)

Weather-Proof Flower Flip Flops

I finally competed my project with my Old Navy $1 flip flops I got at the beginning of summer.
I knew I wanted to make flowers on them but I was worried about them getting dirty or wet.
So I decided to make them out of an old purse!
Weather-proof pleather! :)
           before 004before

(It wasn’t a real Prada bag- no fear. :) )
Turn the bag inside out and seam rip

Cut three circles of varying sizes then cut out the flower shape.
Punch hole in center.
Picnik collage3
I painted an old button and put on a weather-proof varnish.
Then I attached them all together with elastic and tied it on the flip flop.
Also I punched a hole in the flip flop side and on the edge of the flower to keep it from moving so much.

Picnik collage after

Do you have any flop flops ideas? :)

Independence Day Picnic

This week I am celebrating to things:

The birth of America and my two year anniversary with my boyfriend, Josh!

To celebrate we went up north to go swimming and shopping in little towns.

I packed us a picnic to eat by the lake. :)

Included I made blueberry pie!  One of Josh’s favorites as well as mine. :)

I made the crust and filling all by hand.   I used my Grandma’s Fool Proof Pie Crust recipe.  Except I used whole wheat flour instead of white.  I turned out pretty well!

It makes enough for two pies.

For the filling I added:

5 Cups of fresh blueberries

2 TBS of flour

2/3 Cup sugar.

Mix it together and put it in your crust and bake until top crust is golden brown.  I did a lattice.

I forgot to take a picture of it before I cut it so I took a picture of the last lonely piece this morning.
